More of the K, oh my!

I was given an ARC for an honest review. This book is exactly what you would expect from an Anna Zaires book. Hunky, alpha male, strong female character, steamy sex scenes and flawless writing. Aaron and Emily are different in that they fall in love in an unconventional way. Much like many of Ms. Zaires series, there is always some doubt of the true intentions of the leading men and too be honest, they can be a bit scary.
Aaron feels a little different and yes he does keep her captive in a way but there is never any foul play involved. They meet when he saves her life and it's a whirlwind relationship from there. If you have ready Mia and Korum's story, this story takes place prior to the K settling on Earth. It gives you a little of the pre-history. If you have not read the Other stories, think of this as a full length prequel. You can't go wrong with this story. It has the well developed characters that we have come to love in Anna's stories. Add in a hunky alien and a little science fiction, with a great love story and you can't go wrong.

Enjoyable but lacked depth

Prior to reading this story, I notice how other reviewers commented about "something missing" and for me, that "something missing" was the lack of secondary characters, activity, environment outside of the H's home. Toward the last quarter of the book, the storyline becomes more interesting because you read in the present, interaction with other characters, different environments, situations, but for majority of the book it's too narrowly focused on the h/H and their time together which takes place either in his house or the jungle right outside of it.
On a more positive note - loved the heroine! She was interesting, independent, smart thinking. I also liked how the questions that ran through her mind when encountering an alien, all made sense. Too often in the Earther gal meets man from Mars scenario, she never seems to have any curiosity or thought about his existence on the planet - but that mistake does not happen in this story. The description of the human population's reaction to aliens felt very realistic. I do wish the hero was depicted with a little more facets to his personality - he was a great alpha type but didn't come across as particularly unique.
Overall, I enjoyed this story but it's definitely not as good as books 1 & 2 of the series.
